It’s About Pasta

Tavolàta claim is that they are all about pasta—from Rigatoni to Casarecce, Conchiglie to Linguini. And the pasta is freshly made every day.

We started with two antipasti dishes:

  • Soft Cooked Eggs – Olive Oil Poached Tuna, Pickled Red Onion, Chili Aioli
  • Duck Liver Crostini – Pickled Vegetables, Balsamic

Both were very, very delicious. I wanted the eggs again this morning for breakfast! (And for those of you who know I am not an egg lover, that is really saying something!)

For the main course. I have to admit my mouth watered when I opened the menu…when do you get the opportunity to choose between two gnocchi dishes? Am I in heaven, or what? The choices:

  • Gnocchi alla Romana – Semolina, Mozzarella, Tomato
  • Potato Gnocchi – Cauliflower, Golden Raisin, Mint

Our waiter described both options and I settled on the Potato version. More than anything, I was more familiar with that version and it would allow me to rank the dish with my favorite gnocchi experiences. And, yes, I would eat this again. Although next time I will try the alla Romana option. And repeat the antipasti. Yes, FABULOUS!
