During our week on Maui, we checked out several beaches. The list includes:
Charley Young Beach – Just across street from our condo, this beach was conveniently located at the north end of Kamaole I Beach in Kihei. The sand is soft and smooth. and slopes very gently into the ocean. We were there pretty much every day.
Location: On South Kihei Road in Kihei
Kalama Beach Park – A ten minute walk north of our condo, we surfed, we kayaked and we played here three times.
Location: On South Kihei Road in Kihei
Honolu’a Bay Reserve – As this beach is located in a marine life preserve, the fish are numerous and the coral formations are spectacular. The right side of the bay has the best snorkeling and diving scenery.
Location: Honolua is North of Napili on Hwy. 30, about 1/2 mile past mile marker 32, you will see a metal gate down in a wash.
Black Rock – Black Rock is like a wall dive for snorkelers. A lava outcropping with coral attached. One usually sees turtles along the way and an occasional tako (octopus).
Location: On Hwy. 30 in Ka’anapali turn toward the ocean on Ka’anapali Parkway.
To add: Wailea beaches
